Design Guidelines

The Design Guidelines for Kelvin Grove Urban Village serve two purposes:

  1. Information for registrants in the Expression of Interest process for the development of particular sites.

    Registrants will be required to submit a concept design as part of the Expression of Interest submission for the sale of particular sites. These Design Guidelines, together with a further text providing site specific design requirements, will assist registrants to prepare a design that may be readily assessed as part of the Expression of Interest bid evaluation process.
  2. Reference and use by all parties preparing concept and developed designs for approval by the Department of Housing and Queensland University of Technology.

    The agreement between the Department of Housing and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to jointly undertake the Kelvin Grove Urban Village project requires that their Project Control Group approve the design of all buildings in the Village. The Project Control Group comprises senior representatives of the department and QUT. All developments in the Village, be they by QUT, the department or by any developers who may wish to purchase sites offered for sale, will require Project Control Group design approval, at both concept and design development stages.

Developments must conform to these Design Guidelines to obtain Project Control Group design approval. However, obtaining statutory approvals will be the responsibility of each developer.
