HONOUR FOR LOCAL NURSE l Queensland University of Technology's Michelle Gibb has won a major industry honour for her innovative work in wound healing - the Emerging Nurse Leader Award. Michelle is a nurse practitioner and researcher at QUT’s Wound Healing Community Outreach Service, located in the Kelvin Grove Urban Village. The Wound Healing Service is dedicated to serving and helping people in the community suffering from chronic wounds such as leg and pressure ulcers and non-healing surgical wounds. Michelle's award recognises her key role in establishing the Service, which provides comprehensive assessments, cost-effective and evidence-based wound treatments and interventions, strategies to help prevent wound recurrence, and ongoing support and education to promote healthy living. INDULGE IN A MASSAGE AT HEALTHSTREAM l Healthstream Fitness Club and Aquatics Centre have recently added a massage therapist to their services. Trained in Swedish massage Damien Richardson covers a variety of modalities including deep tissue, sports massage, relaxation and acupressure. Damien has spent the last few years providing his services to the performers from the Queensland performing arts and is looking forward to joining the team at Healthstream Fitness Club.
