Join the celebrations - final round of Q150 Community Funding Program

Queensland's 150th Celebrations (Q150) will happen across Queensland from January to December 2009. Q150 is being held to commemorate Queensland's independence from New South Wales as a colony. This anniversary gives us all the opportunity to celebrate and reflect on what it means to be a Queenslander.

As part of the celebrations, Queensland not-for-profit incorporated community organisations, local councils and tertiary institutions are invited to apply for grants to fund Q150 events or activities. Events already funded from the first round of grant funding include musical and theatrical performances, festivals and exhibitions, community art works and much more.

The Q150 Community Funding Program gives Queenslanders the opportunity to celebrate and commemorate our State's 150th anniversary, with grants available for activities and projects that reflect the unique culture, heritage and aspirations of our diverse communities found across Queensland. The Q150 Community Funding Program is offering grants of between $2,000 and $10, 000, with the third and final round of funding opening on 1 July 2008 and closing on 5 September 2008.

For more information on the Q150 Community Funding Program, visit www.q150.qld.gov.au or call 1800 502 419.

A three course feast of cooking, music and mayhem. It's Joe's Birthday. He's busy in the kitchen preparing a celebratory dinner, hoping to rekindle his relationship with his estranged wife, Megan. But the preparations for such an important night are complicated enough without having the constant interruptions from the ghost of his cabaret singing mother. Emerging from the pantry, in full show stopping glamour she belts out advice concerning love, life and false teeth as she sings from her extensive repertoire of cabaret hits. Things could get messy once Megan arrives but "the show must go on".

How do you survive life in a virtual ghost town without becoming a ghost yourself?

In Thatcher's Britain, the grey fog of depression invades the working class streets of Lancashire. Guided by an unscrupulous drunk, the audience embarks on an evening's tour along a scruffy road catching glimpses of the inhabitants and their seemingly desperate lives.

First performed in 1988, Road is now considered a modern classic.
