Entertainment for the whole family

The program of events for the Open Day has something for everyone – from a jumping castle for the children through to heritage tours for the history buffs.

Children will be kept busy with free face painting, storytelling and a jumping castle, while adults can relax with a coffee, watch entertainment on the main stage or take up the challenge of the trivia trail. Entertainment on the main stage will include an official address by the Premier of Queensland, Peter Beattie, music and dance performances throughout the day. Prizes in the trivia trail competition have been donated by La Boite Theatre Company, the Normanby Hotel and Victoria Park golf course.

Two events not to be missed are the bobcat ballet, where two bobcats will show their finesse in a choreographed performance to music, and the painting of a mural by community artists.

Guided tours will be scheduled at half-hour intervals throughout the day to walk visitors through the developments underway at the Village. Some tours will focus on the rich history and future use of the site, while others will take visitors inside the Creative Industries Precinct.

The Urban Village’s nearby neighbours will have a strong presence on the day, with students from Kelvin Grove State College displaying artworks and performing on stage. The residents of Hilltop Gardens will have their hand-made crafts, including Christmas decorations, available for sale at their community craft stall.

The full program for the Open Day will be posted on the Village website before the event. For more information, visit http://www.kgurbanvillage.com.au/news/openday.shtm.
